Chapter 3: Shit Just Got Real

Olivia did not begin her Saturday until noon.  She was so depressed that she did not want to wake up.  She was hoping everything that happened the night before was a nightmare, until she checked her cell phone and saw 40 text messages from Usher, and 10 voice mails.  All she could do is think, "how could he do this to me".  The only reason why she woke up was because her grandparents woke her up screaming "It's moving day!"  Today was the day she would leave Harlem and move to Providence.  Today was supposed to be a special day, but instead it was just a reminder that the love of her life is now the source of her pain.

As her father and grandfather was finishing putting all the boxes into the moving van, Olivia's grand mother said  "Awe sweetie, I'm glad you're moving out of this god forsaken place and going to Brown University." And hugged Olivia, not paying attention to her swollen eyes.  "You made me and your grandpa very proud." She handed Olivia a thousand dollars cash. "And there's plenty more where that came from.  I won't you to focus on your studies."

"Thanks Gambie."  Olivia said without any joy.

"What's the matter, I thought a grand would put a smile back on your pretty face."  Her grandmother kissed her cheek.

"I didn't get much sleep." Olivia replied in a sad tone.

"Clayton, there is something wrong with my granddaughter, what did you do?"

Clayton loathed his step mother and was glad she was no longer coming around the house. "She'll be fine, she needs time to herself, that's all."

"Goodness he wasn't much help."  Gambie whispered to Olivia.  Olivia couldn't help but laugh.  She knew how much her father and grandmother did not get along.

Once all of Olivia's things were in the moving van, she looked at her parents and grandparents.  She was going to miss this place, yet at the same time, she was happy she was leaving.  Too many memories of her and Usher.  She was glad that he wasn't going to be at Brown.  He had schools pitching scholarships to him, and he got into Brown, but he decided to turn it down to go to NYU with her.  She was even more glad that she did not tell him that she was going to Brown.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was another humid day in Providence, and Leonardo did not feel like being in the dorm.  I need to find myself another girl to bring home and fuck her brains out, he thought to himself.  He couldn't stand the idea of having a roommate.  Some one to either try to take the girls he brought home attention, or someone who was in desperate need of a wing man.  They couldn't wait until the winter semester to start Brown?  There was a pool party he heard about and decided to go.  It's hot and girls will be nearly naked.  Once there was liquor in their system, they might take everything off.  With naked girls in mind, he got ready and left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was 6 o'clock when Olivia got to Brown.  She went to the office to find where her dorm was at, and was escorted there.

"You have a roommate.  There are two rooms in this one, the both of you are very lucky.  We only have two dozen two bedroom dorms.  Their like mini apartments.  These dorms are for the highly gifted students here."   The lady told Olivia.  She handed her the key and departed.

Olivia opened the room.  It was spacious like an apartment.  The place's decor was neat yet simple.  She wondered how her roommate would be like.  Was she a party animal or a book worm?  Was she going to be evil like Maciah or not?  With that thought, Olivia's phone vibrated.  Usher has been calling her none stop all day.  When she decided to hang up in his face, she realize it was that bitch Maciah calling her.  At that instant, she was filled with intense anger.  She answered the  phone saying "What the FUCK do you want?"

"I just wanted to say," Maciah said choked up with tears "I'm sorry."

"Are you saying this because Usher doesn't want to be with you, but with me?  Usher will never choose you.  NEVER!  Even if we never get back together, he'll find another girl before he decides to be with you.  You know what they say, 'You can't make a hoe into a house wife'" and hung up in her face.  She couldn't believe Maciah had the audacity to call her.

Livid, Olivia left her dorm to tell the movers where to place her things.  Once they moved everything into her room, she decided to take a walk.  She needed some fresh air to clear her mind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maciah was upset.  Her best friend hated her.  Her sister got into an argument with their mother and apparently went back to Georgia to stay with their father for the summer.  Usher was not returning her calls.  She had no one.  And she began to cry.  All she wanted was love.  Maybe the reason she went after Usher because she was jealous of his and Olivia's relationship.  He always knew when she was upset, or something was bothering her before she even said it.  She gave him a look and he knew what was her emotion.  She wanted that special bond.  Usher always used to flirt with her when Olivia wasn't around.  At first Maciah would brush him off, she had plenty of boys, no need in getting involved with her best friend's boyfriend.  But Usher was her dream guy.  Sweet, smart, funny, athletic.  He had brown eyes that she could get lost in.  He had a body like Michael Angelo carved himself.  He was clean shaved, with a sexy goatee.  He had sexy full lips that were soft as clouds and taste so sweet.  Why was he in love with a goody goody like Olivia instead of her?  Maciah started crying again, life as she knows it is now over.  She was 17 turning 18 and pregnant with no one to turn to.  And as Olivia would joke around and say sometimes "Shit just got real."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Olivia walked around campus thinking about how much her life has changed in a matter of  24 hours.  At her high school, their graduation would be Monday, and she won't be there to see their faces.  See all the people who tortured her throughout her years at school.  She didn't have to see the face of her betrayers, her Judas, her Brutus.  She decided to walk back to her dorm, and go to bed.  Hopefully the movers set up her bed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leonardo came back to his dorm, late that night, drunk with the same blond as last week.  He figured, this time he was going to learn her name.  As him and the blond stumbled into his dorm he realize the living room area was a bit different.  He saw a few boxes in the kitchen area, and payed no attention to it, he was too intoxicated to care.  The blond kept giggling and laughing saying "I can't wait to sit on your dick again."  Leonardo decided no more playing around, and put her right on the couch, taking her to his bed was taking too long.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At 8 o'clock sharp Olivia woke up.  She could've sworn she her some noises last night, but she was too tired to get up.  She didn't get enough sleep the night before, and she felt like sleep was her cure for the madness that was going on in her life.

Olivia decided to make breakfast and hopefully meet her new roommate.  When she opened her door she saw her roommate sleeping on top of a guy.  She was going to tip toe back to her room when the girl woke up and said "Who are you?"

Olivia walked towards her and extended her hand, "My name is Olivia, I'm your new roommate."

"I'm Britney, and uhm...if you're my new roommate why are you here instead of at the house?"  The blond said.

Leonardo started to wake up and then saw Olivia "Who are you?"

Olivia, confused and starting to get frustrated said "My name is Olivia.  I'm Britney's new roommate."

"Wait, you're the new roommate?  Wow, I didn't see that one coming."  Leonardo said.

Both Britney and Olivia looked confused.  "What do you mean?"  Olivia said.

"I'm Leonardo.  I'm you're roommate, uhm,  Britney was my, uhm, guest last night."  He said starting to get up and shake Olivia's hand.

"Nice to meet you." and the she looked at Britney "Nice to meet the both of you. I'm just going to the office, maybe they have everything mixed up."

"No they don't.  This isn't prep school, it's college.  We're co-ed around here."

Olivia looked at Leonardo and said "Oh." And walked back in her room.  She didn't like him.  It was obvious he had a one night stand with poor Britney.

"She seemed really nice."  Britney said and hugged him.

"Yea real nice, " he said sarcastically.  "But hey, I'll call you later.  I have to get ready for work." He lied, and he started grabbing her things and walking her out the door.

"Can I have a kiss babe"  Britney said, and puckered her lips.

He gave her a peck and said "Good bye" as he closed the door.  Whoa, that as a close one. He said, and walked into his room.

Olivia was pacing in her room.  A boy as a roommate. Great, he's going to bring all kinds of girls at late night.  Then she realize that her roommate and his victim were on the couch. EW, that is completely repulsive. Olivia thought to her self.  What did she get herself into?  Shit just got real.

Chapter 2: Here's Two Birds for the Love Birds

"Really Usher!  After three years, this is how you treat me!"  Olivia yelled.  Usher immediately climbs off the very last person Olivia expected to see fucking.  Maciah.  "Really Maciah, I thought we were friends!"  Then realizing what Maciah has been telling her about her mysterious "boyfriend" and telling her how much she hated his girlfriend.  "So you're pregnant with my boyfriend's child?"  Olivia yelled on the top of her lungs.

"Wait what?"  Usher said, as he was pulling up his pants, and Maciah was putting on hers.  "She pregnant?"

"Yes, nigga.  And now that shit is all out in tha open, you can dump her ass.  Go head babe."  Maciah said with an attitude.  "I've waited a whole year and six months for this shit."

"Are you sure it's mine?"  Usher exclaimed.

"A year and a half and you two were fucking each other behind my back?!?"  Olivia yelled and then she started crying.

Usher rushed to Olivia, trying to console her, and Olivia brushed him off.  Realizing the time frame she asked, "Did you start fucking her after your brother died and I was with my grandparents that weekend?"

"Yes!  You were supposed to be there for yo man, and you weren't.  I was there when he was cryin bitch, not you."  Maciah yelled.

"Shut up!" Usher and Olivia yelled at Maciah.

Olivia looked at Usher, "So you decided to fuck my best friend?  I went to that fucking funeral with you!  I was here for you every night while you mourned. I made sure you weren't behind at school during that time.  Fuck, I was always there for you, and the one time I couldn't be there at that very moment, you decided 'Hey let me fuck my Maciah, she's my girl friend's best friend, I know she can't keep a secret'."  Mimicking Usher's voice.  "Really Usher?"

"I'm sorry, babe, I wasn't thinking."  Usher said, trying to hold her again.  He didn't want her to find out.  He knew it would hurt her.

"Babe, this is yo chance.  I'm havin yo child and we could be a family.  You could finally tell this square bitch 'bah bah bye bitch'.  You're free now."  Maciah said while trying to grab Usher's arm.

Usher yanked his arm away from and yelled "Get off me!"

"So I was a burden?  You felt like I trapped you?"  Olivia asked Usher.

"No babe, it's all in her head.  This bitch is crazy"  Usher said, completely ignoring Maciah.  He has two angry women in the house.  One is the love of his life and one was pregnant with his child.  This was not good at all, not what he wanted.  Especially since he got accepted to Brown University on a full football scholarship.

"Maciah."  Olivia said, looking into her eyes.  Maciah had no remorse, it was almost like she was an enemy, like they were never friends to begin with.  "We've been best friends since you moved out here.  Since the fucking 8th grade.  After all the girls at school called you 'The Slut Of The School' and I defended you!  The fucked up part of the whole thing is that they were actually right about you."

Maciah went up to Olivia and screamed in her face "Fuck you bitch.  I fucked ya man, what the FUCK are you goin ta do about it."

Olivia slapped Maciah as hard as she possibly could.  Maciah rubbing her cheek, grew upset and raised her hand to hit her, but Usher grabbed Maciah's arm.  Olivia slapped Usher and said "FUCK the both of you."  Giving them both the bird, and  headed out the apartment.

Usher ran after Olivia while Maciah yelled in the background "Fuck her, it's just you and me now babe."

"Olivia wait."  Olivia stopped.  He could hear her crying, he could almost feel her pain and the hurt he caused her.  "I'm sorry.  I didn't know what I was thinking."  He gently put both hands on her shoulder.  She began to cry harder.  "Love, I'll do anything to make it up to you.  I love you."

Olivia turned and looked him in the eyes.  "I came here to tell you some great news, and you completely ruined it.  Three years, and half of the time you were basically in a relationship with someone I trusted.  You didn't think to warn me a little?  To tell me not to trust her.  I've known you basically all my life, and I trusted you with all my heart.  You were my protector.  You protected me from the girls bullying me at school.  You were always there for me, so what I can't fathom how it was so easy for you to betray me.  How could you lie to me for over a year?  How you could sit there in my face and tell me that you weren't cheating on me, when I asked you.  How could you do this to me."  Olivia started crying even harder, and Usher held her.

"I'm so sorry." He whispered, and kissed her head.  He started to tear up.  "It was stupid of me.  I'm sorry.  I'm so sorry.  I love you so much, I didn't mean to hurt you.  I'm sorry."

Olivia pushed from him, "No I'm sorry.  I knew you cheated on your ex girlfriends before me, but I didn't think you would do that to me!  You always said that I was special, that I was different from all those girls, yet you treated me just like one of your ordinary girlfriends."  Olivia looked at him, and for a smooth talker who always talked himself out of trouble was completely speechless.

"I don't know what else to say."

"I don't either."  With that, she stormed down the stairs.  Usher ran after her.

Olivia got into the car, right before she was about to slam the door, Usher grabbed the car door.  Olivia was crying hysterically.  "You can't drive like this, at least let me drive you home."  She shook her head no, but decided it would be best.

The entire ride was torture.  All you could hear was Olivia crying, and for once he couldn't make her pain go away.  At this moment, all he kept thinking was, how could he do this.  He knew the only reason why he kept fucking Maciah was because he knew she would indubitably keep her mouth shut.  He was the star football player in high school, and the girls kept throwing themselves on him.  Sure a few times in indulged himself, and decided to take advantage of the girls.  But they always taunted Olivia about it.  Thinking with the wrong head ended up costing him the girl he's cared the most about.  Out of all the girls he's ever been with, Olivia was always the one he wanted to be with.  Ever since he first saw her crying in third grade, he knew then that that was the girl he wanted to be with for the rest of his life.

After, what seemed to be the most agonizing drive, Olivia gotten out the car, took the keys from Usher, and started heading inside the house.  He wanted to say something, but he felt everything that came out of his mouth was meaningless to her, so he started to walk home.  Then Olivia turned around and said "Usher."  He jogged to her and said "Yes" with hope in his eyes. "The reason why I came over, before I ruined you getting your DICK wet," she clears her throat and continues, "I was letting you know that I'm not going to NYU.  I'm moving to Providence tomorrow morning."

"Wait, you got into Brown."

"Yes, but unfortunately instead of celebrating it with my boyfriend, I catch him cheating on me with my best friend."  Olivia sarcastically said.

"I'm sorry Olivia.  I really am."  And a tear fell down his cheek.  Olivia didn't know what to do.  All she knew was that she was hurt, and he was the reason for the pain.  She did feel completely betrayed by Maciah, her "best friend", but this was the love of her life.  Someone she knew, trusted, loved, and cared about with all her heart and for years.  How could he do this to her?  "Please let me make it up."  He begged.

She shook her head.  "I never expected you could do this to me."  With that, she walked into her house and went to her room.  Her packed and empty room.  There was only boxes and a mattress, that tomorrow morning, was heading to the school of her dream.  At least that bit of joy did not diminish. She laid on her mattress and cried herself to sleep.

When Usher got home, Maciah was still in his room, crying. "Where did you go?"

"Look Maciah, I don't know what you're thinkin, but we're never gonna to be together."  Usher said. "So could you just leave, I have alot to think about."

"Nigga, what tha fuck!  I'm pregnant.  I am having yo child.  Does this mean anything to you?"  Maciah start saying with an attitude, rolling her neck.  All Usher could think was how could he be attracted to her.

"I will take responsiblities as a father, but as far as you and I are concerned, it's over.  I don't want to be with you.  I never did.  I just wanted to fuck you and I did.  Several times I may add."

"But we have somethin special." And she tried to reach for his hands.

"No we don't.  Olivia and I have somethin special, you were just one of the many bitch I fucked.  Besides, I'm not sure that's even my child."

Maciah gasp.  "So I wasn't the only person you was fuckin?  So you tellin me that for the past year, you felt nothin?"

"No!  Now GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE."  He went into his bathroom and slapped the door.  Maciah started crying, she thought once Olivia found out he'd be with her.  Maybe he will still once she gave it some time.  She looked at the closed bathroom door, and decided to leave the apartment before his mother got home from work.  She didn't need this stress, she thought to herself, she has a child she has to think of.  Unfortunately, since Olivia found out about her and Usher, she has no one to talk to.

Usher waited a while until he heard his bedroom door shut, and then the apartment door.  He got out the bathroom, and locked main door.  All he kept thinking was, what was he going to do now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Providence, in the Brown University dorm room, there was a man living there.  He just came from a frat party, and went back to his room with a gorgeous blond.  He'll never fall in love, he thought to himself.  That was out of the question.  He never cheated on his girlfriends, but then again, he stopped having them after he caught his high school love cheating on him with his older brother.  He never wanted to be hurt again, so there was no point in falling for another girl.  His name is Leonardo.  He's half Italian, and half white. His full Italian brothers won't let him for get about him being half white.  His nickname among his four older half brothers was "White Boy".  The fact he had deep blue eyes and dirty blond hair did not help the matter.
As Leonardo entered his room with a gorgeous blond, not even knowing her name, he saw a notice on his door.  He ripped it off his door, and headed to his bedroom.  Unfortunately for him, the girl passes out once she hits his bed and falls asleep.  He lived in a two bedroom dorm by himself for a semester.   His old roommate graduated and left.  He loved living alone.  Guy roommates were the worse.  They were dirty and constantly asking him to be a wing man.  Leonardo always attracted flocks of girls.
He opened his notice and read that he was getting a roommate.  Oh great, he thought to himself, another dude to fuck up my solitude.  "Oh well" he began telling himself, "at least I have what's her name to keep me company for now."  He tapped the blond, and she woke up and looked into his gorgeous blue eyes, "Hey handsome" and she began kissing him.  He began undressing her, and caressing her soft pale skin with his finger tips. Once their clothes fully came off, they had passionate sex for the next hour and a half.  He wanted to enjoy making a girl scream before he has to worry about not waking up his roommate.
Chapter 1: Moving Foward.
There was a married couple, packing their belongings on a hot Harlem summer, finally moving out the dreadful neighborhood they raised their only daughter in.  It was definitely time to go back to their old dreams.  The husband, Clayton, used to travel across world as an archaeological digs, and on the hunt for a new discovery with a team of others like him.  His wife, Marie, would travel with him as his personal assistant.  Two incredibly young and talented adults ends up having a bundle of joy in the prime of their career.  They decided it was best to settle down, for the sake of the child, so their baby could have the life they never had.  A childhood surrounded by neighbors they'll grow up with for the rest of their lives.  Unfortunately, they only job Clayton could get at the time, was as a professor at City College of New York.  Marie gotten a job as an elementary teacher at Alain Locke.  Both these schools were in Harlem, New York.  Sure the area was bad, but at least their daughter grew up knowing what's right from wrong and always doing her best.  So at the age of 15, when their daughter started dating the son of a gang banger, at first their were skeptical.  But they knew the mother and the boy, and realize, they can't base judgement on what her ex boyfriend did.  The fact that she knew that was not the life she wanted for her sons and left him a lone showed that she had character.  And that her son, Usher, was behaving himself and participated in school sports, and even joined the writing club with their daughter, showed that he was nothing like his father.  But their daughter was a smart kid, just like they were, and knew that their daughter would avoid trouble at all cost.  Now, their precious Olivia was bound to for greater things.  Hopefully her and her boyfriend Usher gets married and live in upper east side Manhattan and far away from Harlem as possible.
At the last day of school, Olivia was happy that she'll never have to step foot in high school again.  Sure there was the graduation, but she didn't have to attend to it.  It didn't matter to her, that she was Valor Victorian, and she could make the 'high school is over and we're moving on' speech.  To hell with High School for all she cared, she had no friends except her best friend Maciah and her boyfriend Usher.  Those were the only two she cared about besides her parents, and her adult friends at the local jazz club.   All the girls at the school lust after her boyfriend of three years, Usher.  She still remembers the first day they met in third grade.  The girls, as always, was making fun of Olivia during recess due to the fact she was reading a book instead of playing jump rope with them.  It wasn't that she didn't want to, but merely because she didn't know how to play.  The girls were ruthless with their taunts, and Olivia began to cry trying to explain no one has ever taught her.  Usher and the other boys were playing tag, and when Usher ran past the girls and poor Olivia crying, he stepped in and told the girls to leave her alone.  All the girls at school had a crush on him, even Olivia.  The girls tried to plead their case, but Usher simply grabbed Olivia's hand and walked her to the girl's restroom so she could get some tissue and clean her face.  Once Olivia emerged from the restroom, she told him thank you in the shyest voice imaginable.  Usher said, "If those girls ever mess with you again, let me know.  I'll take care of it." and then he smiled at her and then walked away to continue playing tag with the other boys.  When he left Olivia began to blush.  Since then they became friends, and the girls hated her even more.
As Olivia was walking to her locker, where she always meets her best friend, she noticed that she was crying.  She rushed over to Maciah and asked "What's the matter?"  See, Maciah was dating a guy who has a girl friend.  Apparently the guy and his girl friend has been inseparable for years.  Maciah feels like if the guy had met her first, they'd be together instead of him being with his girlfriend, and cheating on her with Maciah.  But Olivia was against it from the start.  No matter what he says, obviously he was using Maciah for his own pleasure, and not for love.  But Maciah would always cry about the boy.  Olivia thinks that Maciah and the boyfriend are wrong, what about the his girlfriend and how she would feel if she found out.  The only thing Olivia really wants to know who is this mysterious guy Maciah has gone coo coo for co co puffs for.  Maciah refuses to tell her because she "apparently" promised to keep his identity a secret because no one is supposed to know of their "forbidden love".  However Olivia always keeps secrets, I mean, who is she going to tell?  No on really likes at school anyway.
Once Maciah finished crying on Olivia's shoulder, and the tardy bell rings for class, she grabs Olivia's arm and takes her to the restroom.  "Maciah, you know how I hate being late.  I know it's the last day of school and all, but can't you text me what that mysterious 'boyfriend' of yours did while I'm in class?"
"O, ya know you don't read texts durin class.  You can be late for once out of tha four years of high school.  I mean, come on, what I gotta tell ya is very important.  I don't want no one ta know."  Then Maciah starts looking under the stalls in the restroom to make sure nobody was there.
"What is it Ciah?  You know you can tell me anything."
Maciah began to open her mouth, and then more tears fell.  Then she just blurted it out "I'm pregnant!"
Olivia gasp.  "By him?"
Maciah nods her head and cries out "Yes!", and then hugs Olivia.  "I talked to him last night, about him breakin up with that bitch, and he said that he can't  and that he didn't want to talk about it.  I started cryin and shit while I'm still on tha phone with that nigga, and then instead of findin out why I was cryin, he just said 'Look, I'll call ya tomorrow' and hung up.  Didn't say good bye, or nothin."  Olivia began stroking Maciah's hair and hugging her.  She didn't know what to say, she was completely lost for words.
"Whoever this guy is, he doesn't deserve you or that girl that he's with.  It's ashamed that he's doing this to the both of you."
"O, fuck that bitch.  She's such a...oooooohhhhh....it just makes me mad that he's with her.  I mean, we would be so perfect together, and him and her just doesn't make sense, ya know.  And she's supposed to be this perfect lil princess, but if she was so perfect why is he fuckin me and not her."
"Ciah, that's not fair.  First of all, she's probably a sweet girl or maybe not.  But it's not for you to judge, I mean, after all you are in the wrong.  You knew he was in a relationship, but you went after him anyway.  Besides that, it's not her you need to worry about.  You need to worry about you and your child.  What are you going to do?  Does he know?"
Maciah starts pacing.  "I'ma tell him after school today.  But I'm scared.  What if he wants me to have an abortion?  Or he doesn't care?  I mean, I don't want to be that crazy babymama on Maury screamin 'YOU ARE THE BABY DADDY' you know what I mean.  Shit Connecticut is a drive to go to talk about some nigga who can't admit that he fucked me and that this is is mutha fuckin baby."  Olivia couldn't help but to laugh.
"Look Maciah, you know I'm always here for you.  Even though I'm going to college.  I got accepted at NYU.  Brown hasn't contacted me yet, so I'm thinking I might not be eligible.  But if you keep the baby, if it's a girl name her Olivia and if it's a boy name him Oliver."  And they both started laughing.  Maciah felt a little better and gave her a smile.  Maciah was lucky to have her as a best friend and she knew it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was a typical high school day for Olivia, and she was glad it was the last.  Sure the girls were much nicer to her today and didn't talk about how they apparently "screwed" her boyfriend.  She didn't hear rumors that her boyfriend was unfaithful.  The guys didn't sexually harass her today.  Everyone was emotional, except her.  She was just happy that she never has to see them again.  Moving to the dorm rooms tomorrow, going to spend the rest of day packing, and then later on spending her last night in Harlem with the love of her life Usher, at the Jazz Club.

The Jazz Club was their special place.  It's when Usher finally asked Olivia to be his girlfriend.  It was about three years ago.  Anyone under 18 was not allowed entrance after 8 o'clock, but Olivia snuck in anyway on Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Wednesday was open mic night, and Thursday was poetry night.  Either way she got to hear jazz and poetry.  See, Olivia wants to become a writer.  At the time, when she was 15, she didn't know what kind of writer.  But she was always good at poetry.  Listening to the poets read their work inspired her.  Unfortunately, she was too shy to let anyone read her work, not that she had friends anyway.  The only person she talked to was the most popular guy at school, and friend.  Usher.  At the time Maciah just moved from Atlanta, Georgia, and they were slowly becoming close friends.  One night the owner of the caught Olivia sitting at the bar.  He was going to rush to her and tell her to leave, but he saw how she was hypnotized by the way the poet was reading their poem.  He saw the sparks in her eyes as if she wanted to be up there captivating people with her poetic words.  So he decided not to say anything just yet.  He let a few more poets read their material and watched her.  Unlike other kids her age, they would've tried to buy alcohol, but not Olivia.  She just ordered a cherry coke and a Shirley temple.  Once the last poet of the night read, and the jazz music started to play, the owner decided to talk to Olivia before she left.  "Excuse me young lady, if you want to continue to sneak into my club, you have to give me a reason why I should let you and not tell ya parents whatcha doin?"

Olivia completely, flabbergasted, began to stuttered and say "Be be be because I I I li li like to write.  But I'm sorry for sne sne sneaking in, I I I didn't mean to." And she tried to hurry off.

He gently grabs her should and says "So you like to write huh, what's your name young lady?"

Olivia turned around with her head down and said "Olivia Marie Jones."

"It's nice to meet you.  I'm the owner of this fine establishment.  They call me Big Daddy, but you can call me Mr. Big.  If ya wanna continue to come into my club, tomorrow I want ya to be reading one of yo best poems.  If you don't do it, then you are no longer allowed to come back ya hear.  But if ya do read it, then I'll let you slide and you could sit with tha big boys like myself."  He said with a friendly smile.

"I can't read in front of all these people, sir."

"Oh yes you can, and you will.  Unless you don't want to come back?"

The next day Olivia came with her poem she had wrote about Usher.  Not knowing that Usher's mother got him a job at the club as a busboy that night..

The announcer came on stage and said "Tonight is Thursday, and you know what that means.  Poetry nights.  Now our first poet is a young cat.  This is her first time being here, so please make her feel welcomed. O, also known as, Olivia."

Olivia shyly came to the mic and began reading her poem

"How can I begin
to comprehend
about how I feel about my friend?
How can I tell him
that I want no one else but him?
How can I let him know
that poetry just flow
when I'm around him?
But he is my friend
and times end
I have to hear about every girlfriend
about every girl that he's with
and I just can't comprehend
how could he not see
that we should be one.
We should be US
but I must
sit there
being tortured
when I see him hold some other girl's hand
and I can't even understand
why can't I tell him
that I no longer want to be his friend
and that I want a romantic relationship to begin?
How can I begin to explain
that this whole time
since Kindergarten
that every story I write, at the end
we're together
living happily ever.
Yet you have an endless amount of girlfriends,
and you can't understand why they won't work
because maybe you can't see
that we were actually meant to be
and that I am the perfect girl
that has always been inside your world.
But I can't even begin
to comprehend
how I feel about my friend
because I know at the end
the relationship I long for
will never begin."

Amazed by her poetry, the audience began to snap their fingers, while some clapped.  Olivia rushed off stage, feeling accomplished that she actually read her work and that people liked it, only to run into Usher with a smirk on his face.

"Ush, uhm...whe whe where di di did you come from?"  Olivia had a horrible habit of stuttering whenever she was nervous.  Usher knew this and smiled.

"I work here now.  My mom thinks that if I have a job it'll keep my from being on the streets like my brother."

"Oh."

Olivia tried to walk away and then Usher grabbed her arm "So, Oli, who's that poem for?"

Blushing, she began to stutter and say "Oh, na na no one tha tha that you kn kn know."

Usher smiled again, "I had no idea you hadda crush on somebody.  I didn't think you liked anyone." teasing her.

"I am a girl Usher.  I know sometimes you forget that some..." and then Usher kissed her.

"See, I know you're a girl, Oli, and I think sometimes you forget that.  But trust, I never forgot that."  She to blush. "I have a great idea, you're smart so you can tell me if I'm crazy, but I think you should be my girlfriend, I mean after all, we've been friends for almost 10 years, I'm pretty sure we shoulda been married by now."  He said with a smile.  Olivia said yes and hugged him.  Since then they were inseparable.

Boy did time fly by, Olivia thought as she walked home from school.  Just to think, her and Usher has been together for 3 years now.  Usher was her first boyfriend, and as far as she was concerned, the last man she'll ever be with.  Even though she hasn't had sex with him, she feels like he doesn't mind and understand.  He never pressured her about it because he knew her well enough to know why.  She was scared of losing her virginity, and in their neighborhood, girls get pregnant all the time.  Plus, her parents had to stop their lives because of a pregnancy.  Sure she knows there's condoms and birth control, but why risk their future on an accident that they are both not prepared for?  She was certainly glad she wasn't in Maciah's shoes.  And then it made her wonder, what if Usher cheated on her?  Then she laughed to herself, she trusted him why too much.  She knew he would never do that to her.

As soon as Olivia got to the door, her parents were waiting, holding an envelope in their hands.

"This is from Brown."  her mother said.

"Whatever this says honey, we are proud of you." her father said.  With that, her parents looked at each other, smiled at her and gave her the letter.

She began opening it, she didn't want to read it at first, but her parents were watching uneasily.  Their probably wondering what she's wondering...is she accepted or not?  With a big gulp, she quickly took the letter out of the envelope and began to read the letter.  In the longest moment of silence her parents had to endure Olivia screamed and said "I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!"  Her parents let out a big sigh, and once those three words sunk in, the yelled for joy with her and hugged her.

"Congratulations sweetheart,  I knew you would get in." her mother said, giving her a kiss on her cheeks.

"Way to go kiddo, now you're going to get big money from ya mom's parents."  her father said kidding. "I'm proud of you."

"Thank you daddy and mommy."  Olivia said with a huge smile and tears running down her cheeks.  She was beyond happy.  "I'm going to tell Usher right now."  She grabbed the keys to her car and began to drive straight to Usher's house.

At last she got there, she rushed up the stairs to his apartment.  The elevator always took to long any way.  Once she got to his apartment, the door was opened.  She almost didn't enter, until she heard a girl screaming.  Nervous, she pulled out her phone and was ready to dial 9-1-1 as she slowly entered the apartment until she heard another scream.  But this time, she realized it wasn't a scream, it was a moan.  "Oh Usher."  Olivia almost made a noise, she wanted to see for herself what all the girls at school told her Usher was doing.  Sleeping with everyone but her. Then she heard it again "Oh Usher" Once she opened his bedroom door, her mouth dropped.  She covered her mouth with her hand and began to cry, she couldn't believe what she saw.
