Chapter 18: The Worse Christmas EVER!

After Usher and Olivia left the party, Leonardo went back to the dinner table.  He looked at Ellanora and said, "Because you're miserable, does it mean you have to make everyone else miserable!"

Ellanora kept eating and didn't bother to look at him.

Leonardo pounded the table, "NORA! You are such a, a, a"

Angel looked at her baby boy and then to her husband.  "Nardo, sweetie, go ahead and call a cab and go to your love.  I'll speak with Nora. Go ahead honey."

Leonardo left the dining room and stormed out the house call a cab from his phone.

Angel asked Nora to go into her room. "Was this your plan?"

Ellanora replied, "What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about how you acted at the table."

"I'm drunk, does that really even matter."

"It does sweetie."  Angel placed her hand on Ellanora's shoulder. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave.  You've disrupted the peace in my family's home.  I cannot allow you to ruin the rest of holiday."

Ellanora looked at Angel in complete disbelief.  She placed her head down, "Ok. I understand.  Can I stay here until my cab comes."

"Sure sweetheart.  Just stay in my room."  Angel left.  She didn't want to do it but Nora disrespected her home and family.  It was the first time her family was all together and happy.  Ellanora should've kept her composure even if she was hurting it gave her no right to hurt anyone else.  Especially Olivia.  She seemed very sweet and sort of reminded her of a younger version of herself.




Meanwhile, Olivia and Usher just got to the campus.  "Are you going to be ok to walk to your dorm?"  Olivia asked Usher.  He was extremely drunk.  He stole some bottles of beer from the De Mare's home and drank all of them on the way back to the campus.

"No O.  If the couch catches me this drunk *hick up* then I'll be benched and I ain't no bench warmer! *hick up*"  Usher stumbled out of the car.

She laughed at how drunk he was.  Olivia got out the car and was his crutch on the way to her dorm.  "You could sleep on the couch I guess.  I'm pretty sure Leo won't mind."

Usher looked at Olivia then smelled her hair. "Man is he lucky."

Olivia ignored his comment, considering that he was intoxicated, she didn't take any consideration to what he was saying.

Once they arrived at her dorm, she placed Usher on the couch, went to the kitchen and got a bottle of water. "Here, drink this.  I'll go in my room to find some Advil or Tylenol.  I heard that was a good remedy to prevent a hangover." 

After a few seconds of her being in her room, Usher stumbled in and was leaning against the doorway.  "Hey sexy."

Olivia looked at him and laughed, "You're too funny.  Get back on the couch.  Did you finish your water?"

"No.  But there's a big glass of O I would like to drink."  He stumbled towards Olivia, hugged her and started kissing on her neck.

"Ush, stop.  You know I'm with Leonardo."

"So!  Why does he get to have you, and I've waited for years!  What makes him special?"

"He's my soul mate.  I love him more than just with my heart.  I love him with my soul.  We have a special bond and connection that you don't seem to understand, and we definitely never had."

"Well maybe that might be the case.  But I deserve to have all of you."  Then he threw Olivia on her bed and got on top of her trying to kiss her.

"Get off of me!"

Usher got mad and then slapped her. "Shut up!  I love you!  You wanted to hold out on me but not for that white boy!  No.  I've waited three years for this and I'm going to get some of that pussy!"  He began to pull her panties down.

"Stop!  Please get off of me! Don't do it!"  Olivia started hitting him and scratching him.  She attempted to push him off her but the way he was on top of her, he didn't even budge.  When she heard his zipper unzip and his pants hit the floor, she began to cry and scream for help.

Usher covered her mouth. "Shut up!"  He pulled hisself out of his boxers and right before he was about to enter hisself into Olivia, Leonardo came in.

"Get the fuck off her!"  Leonardo yelled with some much anger.  He grabbed Usher by the back collar of his shirt and pulled him off of Olivia.  Then he upper cut Usher in his stomach and gave him a right hook in the jaw.  "Get the fuck out of her.  Ever come near her again, I'm gonna kill you!"

Usher got him from the floor after Leonardo's right hook and tackled Leonardo to the opposite end of the room.

Olivia screamed "Stop it!  Just get out Usher!"

Ignoring Olivia's plea, they continued to fight.  Usher jabbed Leonardo in the face a few times causing his nose to start bleeding.  Leonardo upper cut Usher's jaw and sent him flying in the air.  Then Leonardo got on top of Usher and began punching Usher in the face several times. 

Olivia got scared and grabbed Leonardo's arm, "Babe that's enough."  Leonardo almost didn't stop.  He blacked out.  All he knew was that Usher tried to take Olivia's kindness for weakness.  All he knew was that his love might have been raped if he was a second too late.  All he knew was that he wanted to kill Usher for hurting Olivia.  He then looked at Olivia's scared face and saw a bruise. 

"Did he hit you?" Leonardo asked her.  Olivia quickly covered her face.  She has been crying during the whole time.  Leonardo looked at Usher. "So you tried to rape her and you hit her?"  Then Leonardo punched Usher again. 

"Leo, please stop.  Just kick him out.  Please."  Olivia never seen Leonardo so angry before.  It frighten her, yet at the same time, she knew that he would always protect her.

Leonardo saw the fear in Olivia's eyes.  Even though Usher harmed her, she was still sweet enough to worry about that dirt bag.  Leonardo got off from on top of Usher.  Usher rolled over and spit out blood.  Usher's eyes were swollen.  His left eye more than the right.  His face was completely bruised and scarred.  Usher's handsome face was almost unrecognizable.  "Get the fuck out before I kick your ass again."

Usher, still intoxicated, now is completely sore stumbled out the dorm.  Leonardo shut the door behind him and locked it.  Usher knew then that Olivia was never going to talk to him again.  It was official.  He would never be with her and once again, it was all his fault.  What was I thinking? he said to himself while he stumbled to his dorm and holding his ribs.




Olivia sat on her bed.  She was in total shock.  She couldn't believe that Usher would do that.  She couldn't believe that he would do that to her.  All the years she's known him, she never thought in a million years that he would try anything like that.  Once Leonardo came into the room, she began to cry hysterically.

Leonardo held her.  He didn't know what to do or say.  He couldn't believe what happened.  He was pissed at himself because he felt none of this would've happened if he left his parents' house with her.  He could've kept her safe.  He felt like he failed and that he failed her.  He was hurt.

For the rest of the night he held her as she cried.  Olivia cried herself to sleep in total shock that someone she knew for years and used to love could hurt her like that.  She felt like she didn't know Usher at all.

Chapter 17: Dinner Time

Slowly Olivia started getting ready for the Christmas dinner from hell.  All she could think about was how crazy this is.  She's spending Christmas with her boyfriend and her ex.  Thinking breakfast would be it, no, dinner too.  Then on top of that she has to be polite and not get irritated that her boyfriend's psycho ex is going to be at the dinner with her ex as a date.  WHAT THE FUCK?!?!  This was some Jerry Springer type shit.

Leonardo was nervous.  Ellanora was in rehab?  Her family just disowned her like that?  Even during the holidays?  There had to be more than that?  Her family were Catholic and would stand by her throughout almost anything.  Leonardo didn't know what to think.  It was bad enough her date was Olivia's ex boyfriend, but then both her exes will be there. Himself and his brother.  Him and his brother are just starting to get along, will things go back to how it was when he caught Ellanora and Frankie together?  He wished his mother warned him or something.  Leonardo has to now mentally prepare hisself for the worse.  Hopefully nothing horrible happens, and hopefully he'll be able to protect his lovely Olivia.





After breakfast with the Jones and Leonardo, Usher went back to his dorm.  He didn't know how to feel about the situation at hand.  His current girlfriend, his rebound, his distraction from Olivia used to date Leonardo.  So he was her current boyfriend, her rebound and her distraction from Leonardo.  He texted Ellanora to meet him at his dorm earlier than the time they discussed.

Once Ellanora arrived she kissed Usher and said, "So why did you want me to come early?  Have a little fun before dinner."  She started to unbuckle his belt.

Usher removed her hands from his pants and sternly asked, "Why didn't you tell me that Leonardo was your ex?"

She looked like she got caught.  "It was high school and I'm not proud of what I did to him."

"Olivia by now she knows that you're going to be at Leonardo's family dinner."

Ellanora looked confused, " What do you mean she knows?  Nardo doesn't even know."

"I was there earlier.  He told me that you were his ex and I told him that we were both going to his family's dinner."  Ellanora looked like everything she planned was going out of control. "Before we head out to the dinner, is there anything else you would like to tell me so that I won't get into anymore surprises?"

Ellanora was confused, "I thought after everything and how you're acting that you wouldn't want to go or have anything to do with me?"

Usher kissed her cheek, "The same reason why you decided to use me to get back at Leonardo, I've been doing the same to get back at Olivia.  I know you love him as much as I love Olivia.  We could do this together and figure away to get them both back."

Ellanora liked that idea.  "Team work."  She said with a seductive smile.  She pushed Usher on his bed and said, "I love team work.  A lot easier than flying solo."

At the De Mare's House

Leonardo and Olivia arrived a half hour early.  Leonardo wanted to give his gift to his family.  While Olivia was watching Leo playing with his nieces and nephews, his mother sat next to Olivia.  Olivia was wearing cream colored sleeveless dress  that flairs at the bottom up to her with a red bow on the waist area. She had on cream fishnet stockings that has snowflake designs and red mary jane shoes.  She was also wearing the necklace Usher gave her for Christmas.  Her make up was simple.  She wore red lipstick and mascara.   "Hey you are very pretty."  She told Olivia.  She blushed a little and politely said thank you. "I'm Angel, Nardo's mother, it's nice to finally meet the girl he's crazy about."

"Well it's nice to meet his lovely mother I heard so much about."  Olivia complemented.

While they continued to talk,  Leonardo talked to his older brother Ronnie. "Nora's comin for dinna.  Ma didn't tell anyone and I don't know how Frankie is gonna take it."

"That motha of yours.  Sweet as they come but sometimes just don't know how to say no.  I'm sure Frankie will be fine."

"You think?  I mean we were gettin along tha otha day and I kinda missed that.  I just hope Nora doesn't ruin that."

"Nah, you and Frankie are over that broad.  Besides you're in love with Olivia, who is hot may I add, and he has a girlfriend.  I think it might be serious but he's not telling anyone, but he's been with only her for the past few months."

"No shit, Frankie has a girlfriend.  Wow, I guess things really don't stay the same huh."  With that Leonardo and his older brother walked towards Olivia and his mother.  As soon as Leonardo was about to introduce Ronnie to his love, Ellanora and Usher walked in.

Ronnie couldn't help himself and said out loud, "Speaking of the devil."  He went to Ellanora and hugged her, "Long time no see kiddo."

"Yea, it's been too long huh Ronnie."

"Some may say not long enough."  Frankie said as he walked by.

"Why hello to you too Frank."

Frankie shook his head and mumbled he needed a beer as he headed towards the kitchen.

Ellanora and Usher walked towards Angel.  "Hey Mrs. De Mare, thank you so much for letting me and my guest join you for thanksgiving."  They gave each other a tight hug.

"Oh Ellanora, it's my pleasure."  Angel said.  Then she saw how uncomfortable Ronnie, Nardo and Olivia looked.  "Have you meet Nardo's girlfriend, Olivia."

Olivia put on a fake smile and said, "Yes we've met recently.  Nice seeing you again."

Ellanora smiled back and replied, "Same to you."

Angel not liking the tension and asked Ronnie to help her in the kitchen.  "Ma, why I gotta help you?   The party is just getting started."   Then walked off to see what his step-mother wanted supposed help for in the kitchen.

"So this is awkward."  Ellanora finally said.

Usher and Olivia nodded in agreeance.  Leonardo angrily said in a low tone, "Why are you even here?  We're not together anymore and you're not fuckin Frankie.  Why couldn't you go to Usher's family or something?"

Ellanora put her head down, "You're mother has been like my second mother to me.  I've tried so hard to reach you to let you know about me going to rehab and my family disowning me.  Could we talk outside?"

Usher was hoping he'd say yes so he'd have a chance to be with Olivia alone.  Her defenses was no longer up towards him.  Her focus was more on Ellanora and Leonardo's family.  Plus she's wearing the necklace he gave her for Christmas.  This was his chance to somewhat start winning her back. 

Leonardo looked at Olivia.  She gave him the 'ok' nod.  Leonardo didn't want to speak to Ellanora.  Olivia didn't want this dinner to become even more uncomfortable then it already was.  She didn't like the fact that she was so close to his mother and the fact that not only was she dating her ex, but she brought him over.  The one major holiday that they used to share as a couple, now they're sharing it as friends.  Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.  Maybe she could put all the hurt he cased her behind.  Maybe this was the beginning of the rebuilding of their friendship, because they were friends a lot longer then they were together. 

Leonardo and Ellanora walked to the backyard.  "Nardo, don't you wanna know why my family disowned me?"

"To be honest, I don't Nora, but I figured you're gonna tell me anyway."

"You know how Catholic my family is right?"

"Yea I do.  I remember them giving me a talk about not having premarital sex with you."  They both lightly laughed.

"Well, I didn't tell anyone, and some how they found out but, I got an abortion."

Leonardo heart fell.  He was almost lost for words and part of him was sad.  "An abortion?  When?"

Tears came down Ellanora's face.  She looked up at him and said, "Two months after we broke up."

Leonardo's world was spinning.  "So you had an abortion.  Who took you to the doctors?  Was it Frankie's?"

Ellanora got upset that he automatically assumed it was Frankie's.  "Your mother took me.  The child was your Nardo!  Frankie and I always had sex with a condom.  You were the only person I didn't use one with."

Leonardo put his hand over his mouth.  He didn't know what to say, how to feel, what to do.  All he knew was that he was livid.  Then, like a movie, all the times they made love played in his head.  Could she have aborted their child?  A tear fell down his cheek. 

"Nardo say something."

"Why didn't you tell me?  Does my ma know?"

"You were mad at me.  What was I supposed to do?  You wouldn't even talk to me.  She doesn't know.  I didn't tell her who's it was.  I guess she just assumed it was Frankie's."

Leonardo started pacing.  He doesn't know if he should believe her or not?  The abortion part must be true because her family was extremely religious.  Abortion would be the only reason why they would disown her.  Even if she was in rehab.  "How would you have known if it was mine or Frankie's anyway since you aborted the child!  Jesus Christ, how am I supposed to process this information?  Right before my family's Christmas dinner.  Were you ever going to tell me?  Or was this a way for you to try to weasel your way back into my life?"

Ellanora put her head down, "I wasn't going to tell you.  I was afraid you'd hate me."  She started crying.  "I'm sorry for telling you now, but I've had to live with what I've done.  I light candles at the church for our child."  Then Ellanora tried to get comfort from him by attempting to hug her.  Leonardo stepped back from her.  "Please stop hating me Nardo.  I love you."

Leonardo couldn't look at her.  If it was their child, he had the right to know.  It was selfish of her for not only keeping this from him, but getting his mother involved.  In the coldest way possible, he leaned and whispered in her ear, "After tonight I never want to speak to you again.  I don't even want to see you.  It was selfish of you for keeping this from me.  It was bad enough you fucked my brother, but for you to also abort a child that could've been mine or my niece or nephew is unforgiveable.  It was your bed, you should've took responsibilities for your actions instead of trying to erase it because you made a mistake.  Do you really even know who the father could've been?  Please stay away from me and my family."  He walked back into the house to the living room to find Olivia.  He definitely wanted to leave.

Ellanora walked into the house upset.  All she knew was she was going to break her sobriety and drink.  She didn't care to try to behave.  For what?  Apparently this might be her last time being around the De Mare's.  After tonight, she was going to make sure they'll never want to contact her again.





While Leonardo was talking to Ellanora outside, Olivia felt nervous and walked away while Usher was talking to Ronnie and Frankie about playing college football.  When Usher turned around to see what Olivia was doing, she was gone.  He knew whenever she felt nervous, she always hid in the restroom until she felt that her presence was missed.  He asked Ronnie where the restrooms were and he pointed it to him.  He knocked on the door and heard her say, "Just a minute."  He waited there was a sensual smile.  Olivia blushed and then said  "How did you know to find me here?"

"Because I know you.  We could stay in the restroom if you want."  He gave her an attempted innocent look.

Olivia knew that look meant he was up to no good but at the same time, she didn't want to be around Leonardo's family.  She felt uncomfortable and nervous.  His mother seemed to like her but like Ellanora more.  Usher seemed to kick it off with his brothers.  She just wanted to remain hidden and trying not to think of what Ellanora and Leonardo was talking about.  She looked into Usher's eyes and said, "We could stay.  But you promise to behave and not try anything."

Usher put his right hand over his heart and his left hand up, "I promise."  She moved aside to let Usher walk into the restroom doors.

"Why are you nervous?  Is it because of his family or Ella?"

"More of Ella.  Doesn't that make you uncomfortable?"

"Sure it does.  But my heart isn't with her."  He looked into Olivia's eyes, hoping that what he said could make her want to leave the De Mare's house with him and go back to the way things used to be.

"Oh.  Then why are you with her?  She's obviously into Leo still.  I wish she wasn't but I can't change that."

Usher looked down with disappointment, then sipped his beer.  "Look O, you have nothing to fear about.  Leonardo knows how wonderful and amazing you are.  Unfortunately for me, I took you for granted.  But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't make that mistake."  Then Usher, feeling a bit buzzed, put his hand behind Olivia's head.  "I really wish that I didn't make that mistake."

Olivia moved away from Usher and said, "I think it's time to pop out."

Olivia left the restroom.  She couldn't take being that close to Usher.  Sure she loved Leonardo, but there was so much history with Usher, it's hard to think that everything they have been through that it's actually over.  There was no going back.  Leonardo was her soul mate.  While Olivia was walking back to the living room, and Usher downed his can of beer and decided he wanted something stronger, Angel came out the kitchen with Ronnie's wife and said, "Christmas dinner is now served."

Leonardo was just walking back into the house, spotted Olivia.  He grabbed her hand and was about to tell Olivia about what Ellanora told him but Olivia squeezed his hand mouthed to him, "I'm scared."  He gave her a genuine smile and whispered in her ear, "Love, you have nothing to be scared about.  I love you."  He looked into her pretty brown eyes and saw that she was less nervous then she was.  He opted to tell her once they got back to their dorm.

Once everyone sat at the table, Antonio finally came out of his room.  Olivia was even more nervous.  The way he came into the room was as if he was the God Father himself.  He had the whole room's attention.  Even the children.  "Hello family.  I'm so happy to see you all here."  Everyone remained quiet.  He looked at everyone at the adult table, then stopped once he looked at Olivia.  "Nardo hasn't came to our family's Christmas dinner in a while, and I'm so thankful that you, young lady, are the reason he decided to come back."  Olivia smiled.  She didn't know what to say.  "Alright friends, " then he looked at Ellanora and Usher, "and family.  Let's all join hands as we pray for our savior whom we're celebrating his birth today."  Antonio said a meaningful prayer afterwards everyone said "Aman" and sat down.  Angel and Donnie and Ronnie's wife came out of the kitchen with all the food.  They passed the food around after they served the children first. 

"Would anyone would like a drink?"  Angel asked.

Everyone placed their order for an alcoholic beverage except Olivia.  "Sweetie, would you like something to drink?" 

Olivia was starting to feel nervous because she doesn't really drink and she was afraid everyone would look at her weird.  Leonardo spoke up for her and said, "She doesn't drink that much."

Angel looked a bit confused and said, "Very well." 
Olivia felt bad and then opted for another choice, "Do you have any champagne?"

Angel looked at Olivia with a twinkle in her eye, "I like the way you think already.  I'm the only one who drinks champagne, everyone else prefers the hard liquor."  The Angel sashayed to the kitchen to bring everyone their drinks.

Usher and Ellanora were obviously drunk.  Both their plans seemed to have failed that night.  They sat right across from Olivia and Leonardo.  They were upset at how happy they looked.  Ellanora decided she had enough and wanted to ruin their happiness.  "So Angel, remember a few years ago when you took me to the abortion clinic.  Why didn't you tell Leonardo?  I mean you sure told Frankie."

Angel looked embarrassed.  She tried to speak, but she was lost for words.  She didn't want to tell her that she felt that learning that Leonardo's ex girlfriend was pregnant with his brother's child.

"Shut up Nora.  You're just miserable.  I feel sorry for your boyfriend ova there."  Donnie said.

"Shut up Donnie!  FYI for everyone at the table, it was Leonardo's child.  Does your precious Live know that?"  Then she continued to drink her vodka cocktail.

"Nora!"  Leonardo yelled.

Olivia looked confused, "She aborted your child?  When were you going to tell me?"

"Live, I just found out.  That's what we talked about outside."

Olivia was hurt.  She wanted to be the first to have his child.  Even though his child wasn't here anymore or even got a chance to be here.

"Yea, so maybe Olivia could have your second child and not abort it."  Ellanora drunkly said raising her glass.

"That's enough!"  Frankie decided to step in.

"You knew she was pregnant and didn't tell me."  Antonio looked at his wife.  The table was quiet.  "When was this?"

"It was a few months after her and Leonardo broke up.  She came to me crying and asked if I told no one and I did.  Honest.  The only reason why Frankie knew was because he over heard the entire conversation."

"But I'm your husband.  You're supposed to tell me things like this.  I might have been able to stop her from doing this."

"I tried stopping her myself.  She went by herself and called me to pick her up."

Leonardo interjected, "You told me ma took you."

Ellanora said, "Yea I know.  Would have it made a difference if she took me or not?  It was done and taken care of."

Antonio grew angry, "You knew she had an abortion and you allowed this troublemaker into our home!"

Angel looked as if she was going to cry, "I didn't know Nardo was coming home."

Antonio looked at his wife.  "Well talk about this later.  And Nora, you be quiet.  Stop starting trouble, you've done enough to this family as is.  My wife opened the doors to you, the least you could do is to keep your drama outside my home.  Respect my home or leave."

Ellanora said nothing.  She felt she's said enough to make Olivia upset.  Mission completed as far as she was concerned. 

After the meal was continued being eaten in complete silence, besides the children laughing and talking, Ellanora decided to do one more thing to upset the happy couple in front of her, "Nice necklace.  Is that the one Usher gave you?"  Everyone dropped their utensils. "Oh, nobody knows, but Usher, my boyfriend, is Olivia's ex boyfriend.  Leonardo stole her from him.  She cheated on Usher with him.  How cute."

Olivia got up and yelled, "What is wrong with you!  Are you so miserable you had to ruin everyone's dinner?"  Everyone looked at Olivia.  She felt embarrassed for losing her cool in front of Leonardo's family. Calmly Olivia said, "I'm sorry everyone.  I think I'm just going to head home."  She left the table in a hurry before tears ran down her cheeks.

Leonardo went after her.  "Wait Live, I'll go with you."

Olivia wiped the tears from eyes before she faced her love, "I'm sorry for wearing this necklace.  I'm sorry for even coming knowing she was going to be here.  I should've just stayed with my family.  This was too much too soon.  I can't."  Then Leonardo hugged her before she finished her sentence.

"I'm leaving with you."

"No.  Stay.  You're family misses you.  Your mother was telling me that she was happy to have all of you guys here.  Don't leave because of me.  I'll be fine."

Leonardo looked into her eyes, "Are you sure?"

"Yea."  Olivia tried to reassure him, which wasn't convincing.

Usher came towards the hall and then asked, "I drank way too much and Ella was my ride, and she definitely can't drive.  There's too much tension in there, can you guys take me to my dorm?"

"Yea Ush, I'll take you."  Then she looked at Leonardo, "Just call me when you need me to pick you up."  Then she kissed him on the cheek.

Leonardo walked them to the door.  "I'll call a cab.  I'll be home in an hour."

Olivia nodded and walked to the car with Usher.  In the back of Usher's mind all he could think was, I have an hour to convince her that she needs to be with me and leave you.
